EU PROJECT TOFOLA – TOURISM IN THE FORESTS AND GREEN LAGOONS OF THE ADRIATIC THROUGH HISTORIC WOODEN BOATS

The TOFOLA project was submitted under the Interreg Italy–Croatia 2021–2027 Programme, strategic priority – culture and tourism for sustainable development, specific objective 4.1 – enhancing the role of culture and sustainable tourism in economic development, social inclusion and innovation.

Project Objectives:

  • Diversification of the tourism offer in the North Adriatic area
  • Promotion of natural materials in traditional wooden shipbuilding
  • Development of new sustainable nautical itineraries
  • Reconstruction of traditional vessels using ICT tools
  • Cross-border educational and training activities

Role of MARSERVIS:

Restoration of the traditional Istrian batana and development of a replica using natural composite materials to demonstrate the integration of tradition and sustainable materials of the future. The replica will be digitally documented to preserve drawings and technical knowledge.

Marservis European Union

PROeco is an eco catamaran partially built from natural, environmentally friendly materials and powered by solar energy, representing a significant advancement in global marine research and development.

The 19-meter-long and 7.5-meter-wide vessel is designed to carry 100 passengers with two crew members. It is powered by electric propulsion and built using bio-composites, significantly reducing environmental impact.

The project aligns with future shipbuilding trends requiring reduced energy consumption and high environmental standards. Through continuous investment in sustainable vessel construction, Marservis aims to position itself as a leader in sustainable shipbuilding.
